Senator Tinubu puts the Elderly on the front-burner

The Senate yesterday took steps to create a national social agency with the responsibility to care for the elderly.

This followed the second reading of a bill entitled “A Bill for an Act to establish the National Social Agency charged with the responsibility to, for among others things,  provide financial assistance to elderly persons in Nigeria and for related matters.”

Sponsored by Senator Oluremi Tinubu (Lagos Central), the Bill, which was seen by most Senators as timely, sailed through second reading.
