I congratulate all Muslim faithful in the Lagos Central Senatorial District and Nigeria on the successful completion of this year’s Ramadan and the celebration of Eid. So much effort has gone towards gaining God’s forgiveness and receiving his blessings, thus a celebration is imperative.
By fasting, we become more sympathetic to those who are less fortunate. It brings us closer to family and the community by breaking the fast together and offering Taraweeh.
This is also a celebration of the oneness that Nigeria has enjoyed over the years and a time to appreciate the beauty of Nigeria’s multi-ethnicity. Thus I must enjoin us all to shun all attempts to cause disunity amongst us. We all need one another and the variety of our contributions; the beauty of the Nigerian Nation is the cumulative of its fragments.
I enjoin us to live peacefully in this season and subsequently, being a helping hand to those around us. In the words of Prophet Mohammed (SAW), do not consider any kindness insignificant, even meeting your brother with a cheerful face (every act of kindness is sadqa) !
Thus I wish the good people of Lagos Central Senatorial District and all Nigerians the peace of Allah and the joy of Eid.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu, OON
