The Way Forward

I congratulate the good people of Lagos Central Senatorial District, Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole on witnessing the end of the year 2018.

2018 was an eventful year. Fraught with issues ranging from farmer-herdsmen clashes to increment in minimum wage, the year also saw the emergence of candidates aspiring various political offices on the platform of the ninety-one (91) registered political parties.

Regardless of what cards life dealt you, 2018 is over. Thus I welcome you to 2019, full of hopes, dreams and revolutionary ideas. Beyond a change of dates, it is a new opportunity to repurpose yourself, re-channel your energy and pursue your dreams. It is for us all, a new beginning, individually and collectively.

Collectively, we have a chance to decide the leadership of our great Nation, Nigeria for the next four years. In making this decision, we must be mindful of its impact on our future and the future of the unborn generations.

Realising the weight of this responsibility, we must approach the general elections determined to exercise our civic within the ambits of law and devoid of selfish interest and gain. You must embrace peaceful elections, not letting your conscience or votes be bought.

The start of the year determines largely, the rest of it. Thus, we must go into the new year determined to be better and to do better. 2019 should not be the year of unrealised goals and visions. Start well, start early and keep at it.

Once again, I felicitate with you all and wish you a prosperous 2019.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, OON
